Please don`t smoke!Buyer lights up cigarette while previewing a home!
There are plenty of things that I`ve witnessed during my 10 years of selling Real Estate. This one makes the charts with a bullet.
I received a call early this morning from a Buyer who wanted to view our listing in Sunrise, Florida.We agreed to met at the home and here`s where the fun begins.
The guy shows up with his girlfriend, we greet each other and I make sure to hand him our info sheet on the property. All is well, the couple seems happy and we walk in.
I like to always start walking the buyer towards the back of a home for Full effect.The buyers walk outside to view the backyard and the pool. When they re-enter the girlfriend takes out a cigarette and lights up.
Me: I`m sorry the Seller`s are non smokers. Could you put the cigarette out?
Cig Smoker: Are you for real? I`m not doing anything wrong!
Me: This isn`t my house, I`m only the agent, would you please stop?
Cig Smoker: Look Man! We`re looking at buying this home, I want to chill before I look at the rest of the house, not be told what to do!
Me: OK, do as you please but can you step outside and smoke.
At this point the boyfriend chimes in! He`s a burly kind of a guy about 6~2 and 290 pounds.
Boyfriend: Dude, that`s my girlfriend, leave her alone or I`ll take issues with you!
Me; Folks, it`s been nice. Time for the two of you to leave or I`ll call the police.
Girlfriend: You`re some kind of &%$OW aren`t you?
Me: I`m alot of things, but one thing I can`t allow is for you to smoke in a house that isn`t yours!
Call me crazy, call me lazy, but get out! With that they leave mumbling and cursing me as they walk out. When i get back to the office I tell two other agents in the office what transpired. One tells me that they wouldn`t have said a thing about the smoking the other tells me, I was correct.
Now as I`m writing this post, I`m wondering if I right! What a day!
